The aim of the study was to identify common damage patterns of severe acute alcohol poisoning (alcohol coma and postkomatoze state) in brain in and to develop effective therapeutic methods. In the Ufa toxicological center the 158 patients with acute alcohol intoxication were investigated with electroencephalography, neuromapping and spectral analysis of electroencephalography. The pronounced neurological defi cits in patients with alcoholic coma, mainly affecting the brainstem structures, accompanied by brain edema, pyramidal failure and the development of seizures were found. Changes of brain activity and the relationship intercentral rhythms are more pronounced in the fi rst day, followed by incomplete recovery of impaired functions by the end of the observation period.
